ADVENT

A szó jelentése eljövetel, eredete a latin „Adventus Domini” "az Úr eljövetele" szavakból érkezett a magyar nyelvbe. Advent az András névnaphoz legközelebb eső vasárnaptól tartó egyházi ünnep, és 4 vasárnapot ölel magába Karácsony előtt. Igazából ilyenkor a hangulatunk is téliesre vált és épp jó, hogy megmelengeti a szívünket a gondolat, hogy majd együtt ünnepelhetünk szeretteinkkel.
Az advent eredete az 5-6. századba nyúlik vissza. Az 5. században Perpetuus tours-i püspök böjtöt rendelt, majd a 6. században a tours-i zsinat szólt az ún. „adventi szakaszról”.

The word originates from the latin "Adventus Domini", "arrival of the Lord". Advent is a Christian festive season that starts on Sunday closest to St Andrew's nameday, and it includes four Sundays before Christmas. Actually, our mood becomes wintry, too, and it is just as good that our hearts are warmed up with the thought that we can celebrate with our beloved ones. 
The origin of Advent goes back to the 5-6th centuries. In the 5th century Perpetuus, the bishop of Tours ordered a fast, and in the 6th century the council of Tours initiated the so called "Advent season".
